पुस्तक परिचय
उत्पत्ति १:१ को वाक्यांश “आदिमा” हिब्रू शब्द “बेरेशीय” बाट अनुवाद गरिएको हो, जसलाई “उत्पत्ति” अर्थात् सबै कुराहरूको सुरुवात् भनी नामाकरण गरियो।
यस पुस्तकमा सृष्टिको वर्णन मात्र भएको छैन। तर अझ उदेकको घटना अब्राहामद्वारा इस्राएलजातिको उत्पत्ति र त्यही इस्राएली राष्ट्रको निर्माणद्वारा परमेश्वरको मुक्तिको विश्वव्यापी परियोजनाको प्रथम प्रभातको उल्लेख यहाँ गरिएको छ।
यस पुस्तकलाई विशेषत: सम्बन्धको पुस्तक भनेर पनि चिनिन्छ। विशेष गरी यसमा परमेश्वर र प्रकृतिको सम्बन्ध, परमेश्वर र मानिसको सम्बन्ध र मानिस मानिसको सम्बन्ध आदि उल्लेख गरिएको पाउछौं।

“In the beginning…” — Genesis is the foundation of the whole Bible. It answers the big questions: Where did we come from? Why is the world broken? And how does God begin His rescue plan?
📌 What Genesis Is About
Genesis means “Beginnings.” It’s the story of:
•The beginning of the world
•The beginning of people
•The beginning of sin and suffering
•The beginning of God’s covenant promises
•The beginning of a family God will use to bless the whole world
Genesis is not just history—it’s the start of God’s plan for humanity.
👤 Author & Setting
Genesis is traditionally connected with Moses, written for God’s people to know their identity, their God, and their purpose.
Setting: Creation and early human history, then the lives of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph).
🎯 Purpose of Genesis
Genesis explains:
•God is Creator — everything begins with Him
•Humans are made with value — created in God’s image
•Sin is real — it entered the world through rebellion
•God doesn’t give up on us — He starts a promise that leads to salvation
🌟 Key Themes
Creation
God created everything with purpose and order. Our lives are not accidents—God designed the world and designed us.
The Fall & Sin
Adam and Eve chose disobedience, and sin entered the world. That’s why we see brokenness—pain, selfishness, and evil. But even there, God shows mercy and begins His plan to restore what was lost.
Covenant Promises
God chooses Abraham and makes a promise: through Abraham’s family, God will bring blessing to all nations. This is the beginning of God building a people—and later, the coming of the Savior.
God’s Faithfulness
Even when people fail, God stays faithful. Humans change, but God’s promises do not.

1आदिमा परमेश्वरले आकाशमण्डल र पृथ्वी सृष्टि गर्नुभयो। 2पृथ्वी आकारविनाको र शून्य थियो। अथाह समुद्रमाथि अन्धकार थियो, र परमेश्वरका आत्मा पानीमाथि परिभ्रमण गर्दैरहनुहुन्थ्यो।
3अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “उज्यालो होस्।” तब उज्यालो भयो। 4र परमेश्वरले उज्यालोलाई हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो। उहाँले उज्यालो र अँध्यारोलाई अलग-अलग गर्नुभयो। 5परमेश्वरले उज्यालोलाई “दिन” र अँध्यारोलाई “रात” भन्नुभयो। साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— पहिलो दिन।
6अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “पानीका बीचमा एक क्षेत्र होस्, र त्यसले पानीलाई दुई भाग गरोस्।” 7परमेश्वरले सो बनाएर क्षेत्रमुनिको र माथिको पानीलाई अलग-अलग गर्नुभयो। तब त्यस्तै भइहाल्यो। 8परमेश्वरले यस अन्तरिक्षलाई आकाश भन्नुभयो। साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— दोस्रो दिन।
9अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “आकाशमुनि भएको पानी एक ठाउँमा जम्मा होस् र ओबानो भूमि देखा परोस्।” तब त्यस्तै भइहाल्यो। 10परमेश्वरले ओबानो भूमिलाई “पृथ्वी” भन्नुभयो, र जम्मा भएको पानीलाई “समुद्र” भन्नुभयो। अनि परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो।
11अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “भूमिले वनस्पति, बीउ हुने बोट-बिरुवाहरू र आ-आफ्नो किसिमको बीउ हुने फल फल्ने वृक्षहरू पृथ्वीमा उमारोस्।” तब त्यस्तै भइहाल्यो। 12भूमिले वनस्पति, बीउ हुने बोटहरू र आ-आफ्नो किसिमको बीउ हुने फल फल्ने वृक्षहरू उमार्यो। अनि परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो। 13साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— तेस्रो दिन।
14अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “अन्तरिक्षमा दिन र रात छुट्ट्याउनलाई ज्योतिहरू होऊन्। तिनीहरू ऋतुहरू, दिनहरू र वर्षहरू छुट्ट्याउन चिन्हको रूपमा काम गरून्। 15र पृथ्वीमा प्रकाश दिनलाई अन्तरिक्षमा ती ज्योतिहरू होऊन्।” तब त्यस्तै भइहाल्यो। 16अनि परमेश्वरले दुई विशाल ज्योतिहरू बनाउनुभयो— ठूलो ज्योति दिनमाथि प्रभुत्व गर्न, र सानो ज्योति रातमाथि प्रभुत्व गर्न। उहाँले ताराहरू पनि बनाउनुभयो। 17अनि परमेश्वरले पृथ्वीमा प्रकाश दिनलाई, 18दिन र रातमाथि प्रभुत्व गर्न अनि उज्यालो र अँध्यारोलाई अलग-अलग गर्नलाई ती आकाशमा राख्नुभयो। अनि परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो। 19साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— चौथो दिन।
20अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “पानी जीवित प्राणीहरूले प्रशस्त गरी भरिऊन् र पक्षीहरूचाहिँ पृथ्वीमाथि आकाशमा उडून्।” 21यसैले समुद्रका विशाल जलचरहरू, पानीहरूमा भरिएर चलहल गर्ने किसिम-किसिमका सबै जीवित प्राणीहरू र जात-जातका पखेटा भएका सबै पक्षीहरू परमेश्वरले सृष्टि गर्नुभयो। अनि परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो। 22अनि परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई यसो भनेर आशिष् दिनुभयो, “फल्दै-फुल्दै, वृद्धि हुँदै र समुद्रमा भरिँदैजाओ। अनि पक्षीहरूको पनि पृथ्वीमा वृद्धि हुँदैजाओस्।” 23अनि साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— पाँचौँ दिन।
24अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, पृथ्वीले जात-जातका जीवित प्राणीहरू, अर्थात् जात-जातका पाल्तु पशुहरू, घस्रने जन्तुहरू र जात-जातका वन-पशुहरू उत्पन्न गरोस्। तब त्यस्तै भयो। 25परमेश्वरले पृथ्वीका जात-जातका वन-पशुहरू, जात-जातका पाल्तु पशुहरू र जमिनमा घस्रने जात-जातका जन्तुहरू बनाउनुभयो। अनि परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो, त्यो असल थियो।
26अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “मानिसलाई आफ्नै स्वरूपमा, हाम्रै प्रतिरूपमा बनाऔं। तिनीहरूले समुद्रका माछाहरू, आकाशका पक्षीहरू, पाल्तु पशुहरू र जमिनमा चलहल गर्ने सबै जन्तुहरूमाथि अधिकार गरून्।”
27यसैकारण परमेश्वरले मानिसलाई
आफ्नै स्वरूपमा सृष्टि गर्नुभयो।
परमेश्वरकै प्रतिरूपमा उहाँले तिनलाई सृष्टि गर्नुभयो।
नर र नारी नै गरी उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई सृष्टि गर्नुभयो।
28परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई आशिष् दिनुभयो, र तिनीहरूलाई भन्नुभयो, “फल्दै-फुल्दै, वृद्धि हुँदै, पृथ्वीमा भरिँदै र त्यसलाई आफ्नो वशमा पार्दैजाओ। समुद्रका माछाहरू, आकाशका पक्षीहरू तथा पृथ्वीका सबै जीवित प्राणीहरूमाथि अधिकार गर।”
29अनि परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “हेर, म तिमीहरूलाई पृथ्वीका सबै बीउ उमार्ने बोटहरू र फलमा नै बीउ हुने सबै फलका रूखहरू दिन्छु। ती तिमीहरूलाई आहाराको निम्ति हुनेछन्। 30अनि पृथ्वीको हरेक पशु, आकाशको हरेक पक्षी र जमिनमा चलहल गर्ने हरेक जन्तु— हरेक प्राणी जसमा जीवन छ— तिनीहरूका आहाराको निम्ति म हरिया वनस्पति दिन्छु।” तब त्यस्तै भयो।
31आफूले बनाउनुभएको हरेक कुरा परमेश्वरले हेर्नुभयो। वास्तवमा त्यो साह्रै राम्रो थियो। अनि साँझ पर्यो र बिहान भयो— छैटौँ दिन।
